About
Hi, I'm Alyssa!
I am a full time artist emphasizing the joy of watercolor in my own art and when I teach others. When you see my pen and watercolor illustrations, you'll notice the simple beauty in the world. You might even get a wash of nostalgia when you see that familiar Minnesota spot.
Art has been a passion since childhood and after teaching elementary artists for five years, I chose to be an artist and teacher full time on my own.
Since 2023, you've been able to learn from me through social media channels like instagram and youtube. I share quick and approachable tutorials because I know that when you feel successful, you're more motivated to keep pursuing your craft.
In 2024 I created another way to learn, the Whetstone Watercolor Academy. This collection of online courses provides a way for you to discover the joys of watercolor wherever you are in creative journey. You'll find my teaching approachable and knowledgable as I guide you in your creative endeavors.
If you're looking for someone to cheer you on all while giving you concrete, helpful advice to find success in your watercolor journey, you're in the right place.
Stay Creative!
-Alyssa

Getting ready for one of my many art fairs I had the pleasure of being interviewed live on CBS. Hear me talk about my inspiration and the products I had available for the Art Crawl in 2022.
