The secret to painting more often

The secret to painting more often

If you’re like me, finding time to paint can be tricky.

But over the years, I’ve discovered a secret to painting more often, and it’s not about finding more hours in the day—it’s about creating an organized painting space and reducing the barriers between you and your craft.

How to Paint More Often by Preparing Your Space

It’s easy to get inspired and think, “I’ll paint later.” But when “later” comes, you might face the daunting task of setting up your art supplies.

This is where the magic of having a well-organized art space comes in. When everything is ready to go, you’re far more likely to sit down and actually create.

Create an Organized Painting Space for Easy Setup

If you have a dedicated space for painting where you can leave everything out, that’s amazing.

But let’s be real—many of us have to make do with shared spaces like the dining room table.

The key is to set up a portable art studio that makes organizing your painting supplies easy.

Keep your supplies in an easy to access container or cupboard so whenever you have a chance, it takes only a minute to set up and start painting.

A tidy storage box or backpack to contain your paints, brushes, and paper can make a world of difference.

Even if you get interrupted or need to clean up, you can quickly put everything away—and just as quickly pull it out when you're ready to paint again.

Choosing Watercolor: Easy Setup and Cleanup

One reason I love watercolor is that it’s the perfect medium for painting in small spaces.

It’s incredibly forgiving when it comes to setup and cleanup.

There’s no need for heavy easels, messy palettes, or complicated tools. All you need is your paper, a few brushes, paint, and water.

This easy watercolor setup removes many barriers, allowing you to focus on the joy of painting rather than the logistics.

Reduce Barriers to Painting More Often

The fewer barriers between us and our craft, the more likely we are to create.

The less time you spend setting up, the more time you’ll spend doing what you love—painting. Whether it's dedicating a corner in your home or just keeping your watercolor supplies organized, having an easy to access painting setup is a game-changer.

So next time you're itching to paint, ask yourself: Is my space ready?

When your supplies are always within arm’s reach, you’ll be surprised at how often you find yourself creating.
